Ford Mondeo MK1 (első generáció)

The Ford Contour was a North American variant of the European Ford Mondeo sedan sold by Ford Motor Company. It was sold in North America from 1995 through 2000. The platform also underpinned a Mercury version called Mystique and the 1999 to 2002 iteration of the Mercury Cougar. It was called the Contour in the US as Ford thought people would associate Mondeo with 'Rodeo'.

The Ford Mondeo (first generation) is a mid-size car that was produced by Ford that launched on 23 November 1992, with sales beginning on 22 March 1993. It is also known as the Mk I Mondeo; the 1996 facelift versions are usually designated Mk II. Available as a four-door saloon, a five-door hatchback, and a five-door estate, all models for the European market were produced at Ford's plant in the Belgian city of Genk.[3] In December 1992, Autocar published a section on the Mondeo, and how it would conquer rivals.

Production of the Mystique sedan, a twin to the Ford Contour, has ended as Mercury focuses on larger, more expensive models. Mercury dropped the subcompact Tracer, a twin to the Ford Escort, at the end of the 1999 model year.

Henry Ford híres mondása volt állítólag a T-modell kapcsán - "vevőink minden színigényét ki tudjuk elégíteni, ha fekete kocsit rendelnek". Ettől a szemlélettől már messze állunk.
